Introduction
to Kiln-Forming (Fusing & Slumping)
This is the class that will get you jump started with the
basics of fusing and slumping! In this intensive beginning
class you will learn the basics of glass cutting to successfully
designing beautiful glass projects. You will complete at
least 5 fused and slumped projects including: pendants, tiles,
a kiln-carving, a clock and a decorative bowl. Topics
that will be covered include safety, the processes involved
in kiln firing, firing schedules, how to program a kiln,
glass compatibility, bubble control as well as proper design
and mold selection that will enhance each student’s
success.

Fusing
Dichroic Jewelry and Wire-Wrapping
Does the shimmery surface of expensive dichroic glass
totally mesmerize you? This amazing glass that reflects one or more colors
and transmits others is exciting to work with in your jewelry creations. In
this class, you will learn to use dichroic glass successfully to make unique
fused cabochons and matching earrings. In addition, etching dichroic glass
will be addressed. After that, you will learn to wire-wrap the cabochons using
beginning wire-wrapping skills. This exciting class gives you hands-on
experience in the fusing concepts for jewelry making. Learn application techniques
for gold decals, copper inclusions, embossing dichroic and much more practical
experience in fusing jewelry.

Intermediate
Kiln-Forming: Components for Creative Fusing
This class will introduce you to the components that you can creatively use
in a fused bowl such as, pattern bars, pot melts and organic vitrigraph stringers.
In addition to designing and making you own unique sheet glass, you will also
have hands-on experience with cold-working techniques using the sandblaster,
tile saw, lap grinder and polisher.

NEW - Reactive Chemistry with Fused Glass
Certain glass colorants or metal oxides react with each other in the kiln-firing
process to produce wonderful effects. Learn how Bullseye’s
different colors of glass sheets, frits and stringers combine with one another
to produce special effects. This intermediate class allows you to explore,
experiment with and compare the intensity of reactions, including the use of
foils, which will enhance your kiln-forming projects. In addition to many experimental
tiles, you will design an 8 by 8 inch kiln-formed tile incorporating color
reactions.

NEW - Fused Strip Bowls 101
This 10 hour intermediate class will assist you to master strip construction
techniques to achieve the crisp, sophisticated designs such as those of Klaus
Moje. Design, consistant strip cutting, working with dams and coldworking
will get your work to that next level.

Painted
Landscape: Painting with Glass and Enamels
For those of you who love to paint, this unique class is all about painting
with glass – powders, glass frit, stringers, rods and enamels. You will
even learn how to make components such as glass flowers and bushes and try
out mica powders to embellish your landscape. Even students who have
never picked up a paint brush will enjoy mastering the techniques in the fun
class.

Geometric Fused Glass Bowls
In the short beginning fusing class you will learn how to design, cut
out, fuse and slump a 12 inch square bowl or platter. You will use your choice
of simple geometrics designs and your choice of colored glass that will make
you look like a kiln-forming pro in only 4 hours.

NEW - Beadmaking: Beginning Beadmaking
Want to learn to make glass beads? This is the class
for you. We start at the very beginning, with a safety overview
and time to get comfortable with the torch. Then it's on
to making the basic shapes, controlling the glass, and applying
simple decorations. Next thing you know, you'll be making
your own original glass beads!

NEW - Beadmaking: Decorative Techniques
Building on the skills you developed in Beginning Beadmaking,
we will work with frit, twisties, and manipulation techniques
to create decorative patterns on glass beads. Add these techniques
to your repertoire and you will be well on the way to developing
your own personal bead style.

NEW - Beadmaking: Hollow Beads
Hollow beads add a sense of lightness to your work. And when
you make them from transparent glasses, you can string other
beads inside! We will work with the basic hollow bead building
technique, as well as shaping and
decorating the bead.

Perfecting
Your Cutting Skills
Need some help with cutting because you’re always breaking
glass or do you just need a refresher? This class will help
you discover techniques that will result in less breakage
and save you time and money.
$40
Students interested in this class will be accommodated based

Sandblasting
- The Fundamentals
Turn fused pieces, ordinary windows, mirrors or bottles into
works of art using the easily learned sand etching or sand
blasting technique. Both basic and advanced techniques are
taught.

Beginning
Stained Glass
Learn the stress- relieving art of stained glass using the
uniquely American Copper Foil method developed by Louis Comfort
Tiffany. As you complete your project, you’ll
have a newfound skill that will enable you to complete
many other projects in the future. The instruction
is very individualized. Class will teach the beginning glass
student to complete a two-dimensional stained glass panel
(up to 16" x 22" maximum size) which will be ready
for hanging in a window when completed. Instruction will
include cutting glass, pattern making, glass selection, using
color, copper foiling techniques, soldering, proper finishing
and safety in the glass studio.

Intermediate
Stained Glass: Six Panel Lampshades
Take your stained glass skills to the next level. Create
a six-panel lampshade from a variety of patterns you can
enhance with decorative wire.
Note: Knowledge of Beginning Stained Glass Cutting
Skills is required.

Stained Glass: Leaded Glass Panels
Learn the skills that will prepare you to make larger projects
designed to beautify doors, cabinets and home windows. This

Mosaic Class - Turning Glass into Art
Take your "glassy" idea and create a mosaic. Learn
to mosaic a wooden tray, a terra cotta flower pot or make
a stepping stone. You'll learn how to do all three but can
complete only one project in this time frame.

NEW - Micromosaic Glass Jewelry
Explore mosaic making on a small scale and make a earrings
and a pendant to match using micromosaic techniques. Customize
silver earring and pendant bases with fine detail using
millifiore glass beads, vitreous glass tiles, glass gems,
mirror tiles, seed beads, etc.
Prerequisite: Steady hands and good eyesight.

Wire-Wrapping: Frame Wrapped
Cabochons
You will have the expert guidance of Annette Kinslow of Houston
to construct a bezel made out of sterling silver wire to
frame your cabochon and will learn to embellish it using
the same wires.

Ring

2010 Summer Camp for Kidz
For the very first
time we are happy to announce 2 different classes for children
ages 10 and up. Each class will
be offered 3 times during the summer. The maximum enrollment
is 8.
NEW - Mosaics for Kidz: The Mosaic Birdhouse
Each child will decorate a wooden birdhouse with using colorful
mosaic tiles and then grout it on the last day of class.
Monday through Friday, June 7-11 - 2
to 5 pm
Monday through Friday, June 21-25 - 2 to 5 pm
Monday through Friday, July 26-30 - 10 to 1 pm
$150, includes all supplies and refreshments
NEW - Wire-Wrapping for Kidz
Each child will complete a different wire-wrapping project
each day using glass gems and wire. The projects include:
a wire-wrapped cabochon, earrings, a mobile and a rondel
to hang in the window.
